Description

If you are buying from the USA, and having the item posted to the USA: due to new tariffs imposed by the current US administration there will be Import costs to pay which US Customs require to be paid before we can post the item to you. We can issue you a PayPal invoice for the amount, so please send us your PayPal email address when you pay for the item. Royal Mail will charge us for the Import duty and then pass it on to US Customs on your behalf.

All items, irrespective of where they are made, now 13% + £1.

International buyers, please note: due to the fact that it has become so costly to post items to destinations outside the UK, we have decided to implement the eBay option not to accept returns from International buyers, unless of course we make a mistake. In the 15 years + that we have been trading on eBay we have only ever had two customers who have asked to return an item because they 'changed their mind, or bought the wrong item. We try and keep our prices and postage charges as low as we possibly can, so we cannot afford the losses that we would inevitably incur if we did accept remorse returns. We hope that you understand. Any import or other duties are the responsibility of the buyer. Sorry but we no longer post to Argentina – it is just so expensive.

Please take a moment to read through this listing before buying. Thank you.

Please note that Hornby have used R685 for a High Speed train as well as for this Coronation loco chassis.
This
UK Free Post 'Buy it Now' is for a now rarely available, New, GB Made, Hornby R685, Coronation class loco rolling chassis, suitable for use with a tender drive (powered tender). You can look this rolling chassis up on Hornby service sheet 111A. The rear end and pony truck are different on the later version shown on Hornby service sheet 162. The reason that the chassis has an extra metal part attached (screwed in) at the rear is due to the fact that the body that would fit this chassis has screw/bolt mountings at the front and the rear. The later version body has a clip fitting at the rear, so the extra screwed in metal protrusion at the rear of this chassis is not required.

This rolling chassis was part of an unused, Hornby R685 Coronation, number 6220 (Streamlined) loco made in the 1980s in Margate.

We have test run this rolling chassis and can confirm that it runs very smoothly, unlike other ones which we have had from this era which can be quite 'sticky'.
The valve gear, coupling rods and wheel rims are all bright Nickel and look as clean as the day that this chassis was made, around 40 years ago.

This Chassis is
not powered - there isn't a motor, so is suitable for use with a powered tender. It is a chassis for a Tender Drive Loco.
