Merle Winton Gregerson was born near Volga, Iowa, about eight miles south of the Turkey River Valley Settlement. After World War II, he decided that the Norwegian settlement had changed, losing its old Norsk language and the passing of the old folks, making it very important to write about them who made our life possible, thus saving these old families from Hallingdal and Numedal for generations to come
