After WW2, the Eastern European countries liberated by the Soviet Union were dragged into the Warsaw Pact, the Communist Bloc with the USSR as the head.  Ever fearful of another repeat of Operation Barbarossa, the Soviet Union wasted little time in turning its satellite states into a massive buffer zone in case of another invasion from the West, now organized into NATO.  Before settling on the "boring" raindrop patterns, many Eastern Bloc states had very distinctive camouflage uniforms that were inspired by German and Soviet gear from their recent history.  In the early 1950's, Poland issued their reconnaissance troops wz. 56 sniper smocks that combined a very Wehrmacht-looking splinter camouflage pattern with the cut of a Soviet sniper suit.  These were intended to be worn as a loose outer layer over the wearer's typical field uniform as a way to break up the silhouette. The wz. 56 uniform was only issued between ~1953 and the mid-1960's to elite Polish Airborne and Reconnaissance units so surviving examples are extremely rare 60+ years later.

You will receive the exact Polish splinter smock in the pictures.  It is in excellent condition for its age and does not appear to have seen much use. There are some very old, washed out stains and other minor storage wear from age and a small tear in the material near the hood (nearly invisible when worn) and left cuff tie (as worn) has been partially torn off.  Interestingly, the smock seems to have been made with several different dye lots of the same wz.56 camouflage fabric.
