Edward Westley (1822–1885) was a British photographer active during the mid-nineteenth century. By 1863 he had established a photographic studio in Tiflis (now Tbilisi, Georgia) known as "Caucasus Photography." Contemporary scholarship identifies him as a member of the Photographic Society of London and notes that he became the personal photographer to the Viceroy of the Caucasus. Westley was among the earliest photographers to systematically document the Caucasus, producing portraits as well as topographical and panoramic views of the region. His photographs, including his well-known Panorama of Kutaisi (1866), survive in museum and archival collections and constitute an important visual record of the Caucasus during the Russian imperial period. His work has been recognized by modern historians of photography as significant to the early development of photography in Georgia and the wider Caucasus, where he helped establish commercial photography and documented the region's landscapes, architecture, and inhabitants during a formative period in its history.
