This is a wooden primitive folk art piece from the 1920s, depicting either a black bird or a crow. It could be used as a decorative item or more likely as a decoy. It has very old white paint highlights for the eyes and beak. The white paint is crackled, so I know it's very old. When you look closely at the black paint, it too displays fine crackling.

There are two larger holes on the bottom where it appears that wooden rods once were inserted to make the piece stand upright. The flat back bottom section has been touched up, and I think a small piece may have been broken off. It measures 12" long x 5.25" tall.
