Good - Circa 1900.
Ideal for gift or to win a great and pretty collectible. The general condition of the silver is very good and the wax seal unused, no structural damage or breakage. The metal blade shows traces of rust, which were preserved to demonstrate its age, easy to improve. Received by Inheritance. No original packaging.
The set includes an antique sealing wax seal, crafted in silver with an ornamental style characteristic of the late 19th or early 20th century (commonly associated with the French Art Nouveau or Neoclassical style), along with a letter opener in the same style.
These types of pieces were part of the writing sets of high society and were used with the accompanying small knife to open letters, or even to melt, cut, and stamp sealing wax onto correspondence in order to seal letters securely and elegantly.
It is clear that the base of the seal is smooth, without any engraved initials or coats of arms. This means that the piece was never personalized by its original owner and retains its blank matrix. Natural wear and fine scratches are also visible on the flat surface due to friction and the passage of time.
The measurements and weights confirm that this is a lightweight desk set, typically made with hollow or stamped handles.
