Vintage Hand Carved 20" Wood Folk Art Statue European Pig-Headed Humanoid Peruvian (Andean) heritage.  Impressive!  Approx. 5.5"L x 5.25"W x 20.25"H.  Dressed in a satirical colonial period style with exaggerated proportions, an expressive stance and rustic style.  A substantial carving with visible hand tool marks and a strong physical presence.  Hand painted solid wood.  Providence is unknown: is an estate sale find from a well-traveled military officer.  

Note: the European pig represents a complex blend of colonial imposition, new economic realities, and paradoxically, a symbol of abundance and prosperity. 

This carving is in very good vintage primitive condition.  A chip in the wood behind the right ear and a small chip at the base of the right foot.  There are several places around the base which don't appear to be chips or missing finish, but I'm including pictures and pointing it out to be transparent (see pic).  Faded colors and wear to be expected with a natural vintage piece.  Otherwise, this primitive statue is in excellent condition for its age.  No signature.  Smoke-free home.
