It is from the1928 Inspirations portfolio of 24 art deco designs by by French-born artist and decorator André Durenceau. It is an exceptional example of a historical printmaking method known as pochoir, which is a highly detailed French technique utilizing hand-colored stencils to apply vibrant layers of gouache or ink. Sheets like this were widely published during the late 1920s to provide interior designers and textile manufacturers with fresh, forward-thinking patterns for wallpapers and fabrics.
