A historic 1921 Peace Dollar, the first year of issue for the iconic Peace Dollar series and the only year struck in high relief. Designed by Anthony de Francisci, the obverse features a youthful portrait of Liberty crowned with radiant rays, while the reverse depicts a majestic eagle at rest above the word PEACE, symbolizing America's hopes following the end of World War I.
This example displays circulated surfaces with moderate wear and attractive silver-gray coloration accented by darker peripheral toning. The high-relief design remains well defined, with Liberty's portrait and the reverse eagle retaining substantial detail despite circulation. Natural patina and honest wear contribute to the coin's vintage character and collector appeal.
As the inaugural issue of one of America's most beloved silver dollar series, the 1921 Peace Dollar occupies a special place in U.S. numismatics. Its one-year-only high-relief design makes it significantly different from later Peace Dollars and highly desirable among collectors.
