Description

A matching set of six dessert or butter knives, each with a stainless steel blade and silver plated handle in the Dubarry pattern.

The blades are plain, elongated and rounded at the tips, with a softly reflective grey finish. One blade is marked “HUGH FOULERTON” followed by a small circular device, then “HESWALL”. Similar marks appear faintly on the other blades.

The handles are elongated and shaped, with a fluted central form and a rounded, lobed terminal. The decoration consists of raised borders, vertical channels and shaped moulding typical of Dubarry pattern table cutlery.

Knives of this type were commonly made for domestic table settings during the mid 20th century, combining stainless steel blades with decorative plated handles for regular dining use.
