This stunning, vibrant blue handmade Seminole skirt is a true collector’s piece. Created using traditional Seminole patchwork techniques, it features intricate hand-cut and hand-stitched geometric patterns, colorful ribbonwork, rickrack, and signature Seminole diamond motifs in bright red, yellow, black, white, and turquoise. Seminole patchwork clothing is an important part of Florida Native American cultural heritage. These skirts were (and still are) made by Seminole and Miccosukee women using a distinctive strip-piecing method developed in the early 20th century. Each one is completely unique. • Beautiful bright turquoise/blue base fabric • Multiple wide decorative bands with complex patchwork, rickrack, and ribbon trims • Fully gathered waist with elastic (easy to wear) • Generous length – approximately 33-34” long from waistband to hem (see photos with tape measure) • Waist measures approximately 30-32” stretched comfortably (see photo) Condition: Excellent vintage condition with strong colors. Some natural wear to the edges of the patchwork (common on these handmade pieces- some pics are of the inside, I wanted to show that work). No major stains, holes, or damage.
