Launched in 2002, JIAO LONG is the first operational deep-sea manned submersible designed and developed independently by China. It aims to provide a deep-sea carrying platform for international seabed resource surveys, seabed operations and scientific research in the China Ocean, which is able to cover 99.8% of the Earth's seafloor.
