Fabulous Pretty Whiting Sterling Silver Openwork Dish/Bowl Louis XVI

Presented is a fabulous quality American sterling silver pierced dish or bowl. This piece dates to around the 1890s to 1920s, and was made by Whiting. The rim of the bowl is done in an elegant design of scrolls and swirls. I believe that this piece is in the Louis XVI pattern. The sides of the bowl are done in an openwork design of overlapping loops or petals. The center of the bowl has a monogram of 'LEE' in elegant script.

This piece is in great overall condition. There are no splits, no breaks, no dents, no monogram removals, and no repairs.

The underside of the piece is stamped 'sterling' and with the maker's mark for Whiting, a division of Gorham. There is also a retail mark for Rand & Crane.

The bowl measures about 10 5/8 by 8 1/2 by 2 inches, LxWxH.

The bowl weighs 239 grams or 8.4 regular ounces.
