These promotional cards were originally given away to moviegoers during the theatrical release of Pokémon: The First Movie in November 1999.
While most theater distributions came with a different backing or none at all, this specific variation featuring the yellow "Collect All Four Cards In This Unique Pokémon Series!" insert card was distributed through Warner Bros. Studio Stores.
The set includes the following four Wizards of the Coast (WOTC) Black Star Promos: Mewtwo
Pikachu
Electabuzz
Dragonite
Each card features a signature gold foil stamp in the top right corner that reads "Kids WB presents Pokémon The First Movie".
Value and Collectibility
Because they are preserved in their original cellophane packaging with the rare Studio Store inserts, they hold a premium value over individual raw cards.
