This is the American version of the Deluxe limited edition. The U.K. version, issued by Heinemann, was limited to 1130 copies. It was bound in the white cloth boards found on many of the other limited editions. Both the U.K. and the U.S. editions of Alice were not signed by Rackham, as he was outside of England when the sheets were completed. Olive paper boards backed by dark green cloth. Gilt lettering and designs stamped to front and spine. Pictorial outline of Alice stamped to front and then Alice's image pasted in. Thirteen color plates with descriptive tissue guards mounted on brown stock. Illustrated endpapers. Top edge gilt. Others untrimmed. Large 4to. [9 1/4 x 11 1/4]. [Unsigned. The only unsigned limited edition of Rackham's work.] Quarto.

Paper boards with very good with minor rubbing wear. Gilt to front remains bright and attractive. Spine cloth not sunned or darkened. Gilt bright. Minor rubbing to head and tail.
 

There are no previous owner's marks. Interior bright and fresh. All plates present and in fine condition. Interior very attractive.

A personal aside: to me the American version is much more attractive than the U.K. because the binding is enchanting, beautiful, and fitting to the nature of Alice. The white cloth of the Heinemann is a drab contrast.
