Rare consecutive-year pair of original vintage miniature Iowa license plate keychains from 1940 and 1941. These stamped metal tabs were distributed as promotional giveaways by BF Goodrich tire dealers. 
Good vintage condition. Both stamped metal tabs are structurally sound. The original paint on both the 1940 orange and 1941 white plates shows natural aging, minor surface pocket scratches, and light paint chipping on edges consistent with authentic pocket items over 80 years old. All stamped numbers and reverse advertising text remain fully legible. Please see photos for exact condition.
NOTE: The specific numbers on your keychains are the actual, unique serial numbers of real passenger cars registered in Iowa during those years, which helps collectors connect the tags to specific counties.
During the mid-20th century, the state of Iowa used a county-prefix system on its license plates. The number 31 stamped at the beginning of both plates means something very special for your collection:
