A genuinely rare Japanese import and one of the nicest small 4x4s on the road. The Mitsubishi Pajero Junior ZR-II was only produced for the Japanese domestic market between 1995 and 1998, meaning you rarely see these in the UK, especially in this condition and mechanically sorted.

The ZR-II model is the desirable spec, featuring the additional digital dash cluster with compass, altimeter, temperature gauge and clock, giving it peak 90s Japanese adventure vehicle energy.

I’ve owned the car for the last couple of years and it has flown through every MOT during my ownership. It has just had an engine replacement last month alongside a brand new battery and it is now running perfectly.

The car starts first time, drives brilliantly and gets attention everywhere it goes. Small enough for city driving and parking, but sits high with proper 4x4 capability and loads of visibility. These have developed a cult following for good reason. Think somewhere between a classic Pajero, a kei truck and a mini Land Cruiser.

Condition wise, it is an older Japanese import, so there are a few age related bits worth mentioning honestly. The sealant around some of the windows is showing typical wear and could do with a bit of TLC over time. There are a couple of light scuff marks on the bumpers, and as pictured there is a small dent on the underside protection plate, though it doesn’t affect the driving or function of the car whatsoever.

Mechanically, it’s running really well following the engine replacement, though if I was keeping it long term I’d probably look at a light tune or setup refinement just to wake it up slightly and squeeze a little more from the engine. Nothing it urgently needs at all, more just the sort of tinkering these cars invite if you’re into older Japanese 4x4s.

Only selling as I now need something a bit more family orientated. Selling this with a genuinely heavy heart as it’s been a brilliant little car and one I’ll probably regret moving on. If you know what these are, you’ll know how hard they are to find in good usable condition in the UK now.
