This is for an original full ticket for the July 17 1996 game played between the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. The game was a 12-11 Red Sox victory showcasing some true bullpen futility on both sides. The Sox would take a 9-7 lead into the ninth inning, but Heathcliffe Slocum would allow 4 runs on 5 hits to give the Yankees the lead. Torre would then counter with his closer John Wetteland who would lead the league with 43 saves. On this night however he allowed the Sox to score 3 runs and win the ball game 12-11 on a walk off hit. While the box score would show Wade Boggs hitting two doubles along with Bernie Williams, Paul O’Neill and Rueben Sierra all hitting home runs, it would show Derk Jeter going 2 for 5 with no runs or RBI’s. What it didn’t show was that Jeter’s double in the second would be his 99th hit, and his line drive single to center in the seventh would be the 100th hit of his Major League career. With Derek going on to join the infamous 3000 hit club, every milestone ticket becomes special. Only 5 full tickets have been graded by PSA.
