Spectacular Bid had an incredible racing career at the close of the 1970s. The striking steel grey colt won an amazing 26 of his 30 starts (including the 1979 Kentucky Derby), coming in second twice. Spectacular Bid won Horse of the Year honors in 1980 as well as the Eclipse Awards for American Champion 2-Year-Old and 3-Year-Old as well as Champion Older Horse. Blood Horse magazine ranks him as #10 of the top 100 U.S. Thoroughbred racehorse champions of the twentieth century.
This quality framed limited edition art print featuring two views of Spectacular Bid is the perfect way to remember him. The bottom of the piece features a quote which reads: "He was an irresistible force...a horse who needed no excuses." If you like how the art looks here, you will love how it looks in person! It is matted in antique white and framed in an elegant two-tone brown and black wood designer frame. I will hand sign and number this piece on the front and will provide you with a Certificate of Authenticity. Measurements indicate outside dimensions of frame. The copyright watermark that you see in my photo does not appear on the actual art. ("Spectacular Bid" is also available in larger sizes as well as unframed.
