None
of my locos have run time. The only major axle problems were with the
1st gen Lifelike 2 axle truck locos with inboard bearings due to
residual stress when the stub axles were pressed in. The six axle
LifeLike locos with Inboard bearings, SD, E8 had very little problems
Installed
are (8) new gearing which were
installed by pre-dilling each new gear with a #43 number drill then the inlet to the gear touched with a #42 drill to
allow insertion of original axle stubs without over stressing gear,
Number 42 drill size has a diameter of 0.0935 inches, while number 43 drill size has a diameter of 0.0890 inches.

#60024 replacement gears are NOW back ordered but I will include a pair
of experimental custom 3D printed gears which i have be pre-dilling
with a
inexpensive #43 number drill gear to allow insertion of original axle
stubs with out over stressing gear,

has replacement axle with gears pressed on correctly for both LifeLike and new era locos. Additional wheelsets, Walthers #920-584408 can be found on ebay

Additional space inside the body may be required to to gain clearance for Decoder during installation. This would require cutting down (notching) the height of the metal weight which screws to frame and insulating motor's brush holder.
if you choose a modern less expensive DCC decoder without a plug,
Life-Like Box is good shape with shop wear on all corners.
