For sale isa really nice figurine made by Klösterle / Thun
in the mid 19th century. The mark was used from 1839 until 1870. The
company was started in 1794 by the order of Count F.J. Thun by Nicolaus
Weber and the arcanist Sonntag. It changed hands a few times and is
actually still around today. The figurine is unlike any other I could
find in terms of quality and the fact that it is glazed. It's a really
nice figure of a mother / lady feeding her baby. The lady is wearing a
fancy outfit - an interesting hat as well as a dress with the baby being
wrapped in a nice blanket. The spoon is easily identifiable though I am
not sure what the white thing is in her other hand - possibly a tissue
or wipe. There is a bowl standing on a column and the base is simple and
flat with gold sprigs painted on it. A great looking figurine and not
something you'll find again anytime soon by this maker! The figurine is
5.5 inches tall, 2.875 inches wide and 2.25 inches deep. It is in good
condition with a touch of wear to the gilding, damage to the bow on top
of her head and in the back of her head as well as a chip to the bowl on
the column as shown. None of these are distracting and the piece
displays very well! Marked with the impressed TK mark as well as the
number 77 and an O or a zero as shown. Germany Klosterle
