ORIGINAL Fieldpost envelope, sent by the State secondary school for boys in Dillenburg to a former student who was with the Infantry Regiment 404 of the 246th Infantry Division. At the time of his death, the division fought in Rzhev, where he was killed and is still buried.
The boy is listed on the german Volksbund website as follows: Gerhard Ernst Hemmelmann, gunner, born in Langenhain on August 23, 1923, killed in action in Dubrowka on December 21, 1942, still buried in Rzhew
On the envelope is a Dillenburg postmark from december 10, 1942, the "Zurück an Absender - Return to sender" stamp and the handwritten note "Return - Recipient fallen for greater Germany"
