Vintage Mechanical Cigarette Dispenser – Novelty Figural Front – Working
An appealing vintage mechanical cigarette dispensing box, constructed from mixed timbers with a pleasing panelled finish. The front is fitted with a novelty applied figural motif, shaped like a small character or animal head, which mechanically presents and holds a cigarette in its mouth when the top control is operated.
The mechanism works correctly: a cigarette is advanced internally and presented at the front, making this both a functional smoking accessory and a charming conversation piece.
Likely dating to the interwar period (c. 1920s–1930s), these novelty mechanical dispensers were popular desk and table accessories.
Condition

• Cigarette advances and is held correctly by the front motif
• Structurally sound
• Timber surfaces show general age-related wear, scuffs and patina
