Not all 1920s dresses were party frocks - some were day dresses designed to endure, create comfort and still add some elegance to an era where the rich were very rich, and most weren't.
Grey Striped Ribbed Cotton V-Neck Dress - simple, no frills, half sleeves, loose fit, hip line shirring, no pockets. Nice texture to the fabric. I'd date this one as early 1920s - possibly earlier. A summer frock?
Awaiting another chapter in its mysterious story.
Too large for the mannequin that measures: bust 33.5-34, waist 24-5, hips 34.
The dress measures: (seam to seam measurements) bust 42, waist 42, hips 54, shoulder to shoulder 17, sleeve length from shoulder 9, length 42, hem sweep 58.
I see no structural damage to note. For almost 100 years of age minimum, it is in good to very good vintage condition. Cleaned, Steamed. View photos for details.
The bagged shipping weight is 12 ounces.
Note: Why do I (or did I ) clean every vintage item I’ve received and offer? I cannot live with dirty or soiled items in my workspace and will not sell what hasn’t been either laundered, cleaned and in many cases repaired/mended. Also, cleaning will tell me just how durable items and fabrics are - many surprisingly so considering their age. Some aren’t and are often offered as wounded for pattern, textile and study. I hope you enjoy their artistry as much as I do.
