This vintage postcard showcases the rustic charm of Hotel El Rancho in Gallup, New Mexico. Opened in 1937, the hotel is located on historic Route 66 and served as a base for many Hollywood movie stars filming Westerns in the area, including John Wayne and Katharine Hepburn. The lobby features a rustic Southwestern design with high ceilings, exposed beams, Native American rugs, and a large fireplace. Guest rooms are named after the celebrities who stayed there, such as the Humphrey Bogart or Lucille Ball suites. This image is circa mid-1960s.
