Up for sale is a scarce vintage software program, from an obscure software company, in its original packaging, for the TRS-80 personal computer. At one time, the TRS-80 (made by Tandy Radio Shack) was the best selling PC in the world, outselling the Apple II by a factor of five fold.
The software I am selling is called "Cash Register 80" and was produced by Edu Ware East (EWE), a company located in Maynard, Masschusetts. The software is contained on a single 5.25 inch floppy disc. It was copyrighted in 1980. There is a price sticker at the top of the front of the box that has the notation 2/02/82. Presumably this was the date that the box arrived in the "Computer Shoppe" store where it was sold.
At the bottom of the front of the box is an adhesive label that reads:
CASH REGISTER
80
On Disc For The TRS-80
48K - 1 Disc Minimum
Mod I, III
On the back of the box are two adhesive labels describing the program. The upper label reads:
"Cash Register 80 copyright 1980
Now you can use your TRS-80 as a point of sale terminal with automatic inventory look-up, pricing, and update. Set up to 4 discount rates or use a manual discount mode. You can also set a sales tax rate, print sales slips with user adjusted formats, and receive end of day reports with all cash, check, and charge sales by salesperson and check on charge card identification. Cash Register 80 requires the Inventory+ System by Edu-Ware East*. Two drives are recommended."
*Please Note: I do not have the Inventory+ System by Edu-Ware East. The auction is for Cash Register 80, alone.
The lower label reads:
"NOTICE
This program is supplied on a Model 1 data disc. When using TRSDOS, two drives are required. When using NEWDOS, LDOS, etc., program can be transferred to the system disc with only one drive. Program is available on cassette for TRSDOS users with one drive for transfer to disc. Use 'convert' on Mod 3."
Please see above for full description of condition and for photos. Please note: This software looks to be complete in the original packaging. The outer cardstock box was not sealed so I removed the contents to take photos. The plastic bag with the contents was sealed with a single piece of transparent tape. In order to take better photos of the contents of the bag, I removed the transparent tape and then reapplied the same piece of tape, after placing the contents back inside the bag. THIS SOFTWARE IS UNTESTED. I have no way to determine whether this software has ever been used or whether the floppy disc containing the software is still functional. Sold as is.
