SMALL HOODED CLOCK

From an old clockmakers workshop clearance...

This small sized arched brass dial clock movement with birdcage movement.

Possibly was a hooded or lantern style clock?

Benjamin Reeves of Lamberhurst, KENT made Circa 1770 (he died in 1790)

Hour striking on large nice sounding bell.

Lovely engraved centre to the dial with finely pierced original single hand. 

Previously this clock was sold by Geroge Hadfield and he insisted on the iron pillars being painted black.

Apologies for this on his behalf - but it would clean off and reveal the ironwork below.

Movement and dial correct to each other and a rare find!
