For the space enthusiast, this is a true piece of rare history that has not been available for sale to the public. For your consideration is a gold plated coin from the reunion of the Grumman Corporation to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the first lunar landing, Apollo 11.
The Grumman Corporation designed and built the Lunar Excursion Module (LEM), the spacecraft that landed astronauts safely on the moon. This spacecraft was responsible for all 6 lunar landings and served as the lifeboat that helped save the lives of the astronauts on Apollo 13. To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 lunar landing, Grumman held a reunion of all the individuals who worked tirelessly on the LEM on July 20, 2019 in Florida. At this event, they distributed to those in attendance this beautiful coin. This coin is 2.5 inches in diameter and is plated in 24 karat gold. On the observe is the lunar module in flight, with the inscription "Apollo 11 LM 5" with "50th Anniversary 1st Manned Lunar Landing" and the date of the reunion, July 20, 2019. The reverse shows the LEM on the moon with Neil Armstrong descending the steps to the lunar surface, ready to take that "one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind". The Earth is seen in the distance.
I cannot stress how very difficult it is, and will be to obtain one of these coins as there were very few made and distributed to a very small contingent. Those who have them are not letting them go. Here is an opportunity to obtain one
