Printed for private circulation, this is the story of the 33rd Machine Gun Battalion and of the 19th, 98th, 100th and 248th Machine Gun Companies in the First World War. The 33rd Division was formed in December 1914 and deployed to the Western Front in November 1915. Each brigade of the Division was given a machine gun company early in 1916 taking the number of the brigade. In February 1918 the machine gun companies were combined into the 33rd Machine Gun Battalion. The 33rd Division fought in many battles and engagements including Somme, Arras, Messines, Passchendaele, Neuve Eglise, Canal de St Quentin, Foret de Mormal.
