JONATHAN MEESE

Jonathan Meese: Erznahrung: Erzberggeist Heideggerz erscheine, Mädchenduft Saint Just erwache

includes DVD of the live performance

Robert Eikmeyer (ed.)

with contributions by Robert Eikmeyer, Jonathan Meese, Wolfgang Ullrich, Karl Gerhard Schmidt

Jonathan Meese's pictures, drawings, collages and texts are populated by a multitude of hermetic figures. As St. Heideggerz, Martin Heidegger is one of the artist's key figures in this "game," which he also calls the nutrient chain. The b / w images by photographer Digne Meller Marcovicz, who took them from the philosopher in Todtnauberg in 1968, appear early on in Meese's installations and artist books. On May 26, 2007, the anniversary of Martin Heidegger's death, Jonathan Meese, accompanied by his cameraman Jan Bauer, equipped with paintbrushes, paint, military tents, rubber mask, as well as a couple of orange-colored squids and other stuffed animals, visited the famous hut in Todtnauberg to start the performance BABYHEIDEGGERZKNÜPPELAUS DEMSACKHOLZVORDERHÜTT N to congratulate the "play child Heideggerz" on his birthday. For the first time, the photographs by Digne Meller Marcovicz can be found in a book by Jonathan Meese, combined with the pictures and film recordings that Jan Bauer made of Meese's Heidegger performance in Todtnauberg. The texts and images in this book and the accompanying DVD document »summit storms«, »lowlands«, »wet dreams« and how an octopus and Jonathan Meese suckled the Martin-Heidegger-Rundweg together.
