This
set of 2 antique damask towels have a gorgeous Art Nouveau pattern of climbing
roses. This helps date them to 1890-1910, likely made in France.
The
bottom right has an embroidered monogram of the initials MJB (stitched MBJ, with
the middle initial larger for the last name).
They
look like they’ve never been used and were probably part of a wedding trousseau.
They had darkened with age, so I soaked,
laundered, starched and pressed them, and they look beautiful.
These
are snow-white and 100% linen (checked with microscope). Some pics are dark to capture the design better. They measure 18” x 38”.
Sold
as a set of 2. Shipped in a new gift box with tissue and ribbon.
Great
hostess, wedding, or housewarming gift, these come packed in a new gift box
with tissue and ribbon.
