Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec French Bronze Art Medal by André-Léon Galtie — Monnaie de Paris Centenary Issue c.1964 Large Module Art Bronze Sculpture
Large French bronze art medal honoring Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec (1864–1901), one of the most iconic artists of Paris’ Belle Époque and the Moulin Rouge era. This piece was created by renowned French medalist André-Léon Galtie and struck by the Monnaie de Paris for the centenary of the artist’s birth.
The edge bears the official “BRONZE” mark together with the Monnaie de Paris cornucopia hallmark, confirming an institutional French production. This example is undated on the edge and features a pronounced raised rim, characteristics typically associated with earlier strikes close to the original 1964 issue.
The medal displays a rich warm brown natural patina highlighting the sculptural depth of the portrait. With its large format and strong relief, the piece reads more as a small bronze sculpture than a traditional numismatic medal, making it ideal for display, framing, or cabinet collection.
