This is the 1st time this Bathtub Gondola has been removed from the box, and when I did to take photos, clearly one end has crumbled / broken. It was sold to me this way. I bought it for it's western and midwestern authenticity as I see a lot of these Gons come through Iowa and Nebraska.
Now what? I can remove the trucks and individually sprung couplers and get at least $10 to $20 for them, or sell the entire item for the same price. Can it be saved with glue? I think so, but I am showing multiple photos for full transperancy.
These Gondolas are on ebay
Lionel 6-17185 O Gauge Lionel Rotary Bathtub Gondola #877900 EX/Box | eBay (SOLD, real sale)
Lionel 6-17185 Lionel Rotary Bathtub Gondola. New in box. | eBay (for sale, $40, 2 of them)
Lionel 6-17185 Lionel Lines rotary bathtub gondola #877900 LNIB | eBay ($49.90)
Please note my total cost including shipping to compare. I will run this for one week at this price, before ending the sale and removing the trucks and couplers and putting them on at the same price, lower shipping. As stated, this was absolutely NEW when removed for inspection. Couplers/trucks have no time on them.
To repair, I would start with the largest piece and glue it in. The reason I would save it if I was still in the hobby is because Lionel did a good job with this model from a visual standpoint, it's modern for sure, looks great, will track on O31 or higher. but you decide.
