CONDITION:  Minor wear to gilding.

Measurements:  Saucer  5 3/8” diameter  Cup  1 7/8” high  3 3/4” diameter

This tea cup and saucer was produced in Japan by an unknown manufacturer.  It is unmarked as many late 19th century Japanese porcelains were.  This particular style was called “Gaudy Nippon” for the bright, exciting colors and large flowers with cobalt blue borders. It is richly gilded with lots of beaded gold.  Much work went into decorating this cup, both inside and out.  It is not a boring cup and saucer.  #E1466
