1806 HALF PENNY Coin from King George III
This is an exceptional example of a 1/2 Penny Coin from over 200 years ago. It is in circulated condition but still has a Fantastic amount of detail on both sides, and a wonderful patina.
Obverse: A Laureate and draped portrait of King George III looking right, with date below and legend around~ “George the Third by the Grace of God King”.
Reverse: Britannia sitting with a trident, olive branch in one hand, a shield bearing the Union flag, looking left~ the sea behind with a clearly detailed ship to the left.
The Mint used was at Soho, near Birmingham~ "SOHO" is visible on the rock next to Britannia's shield.
The edge of this coin has a groove with diagonal lines.
It is made of Copper.
The approximate measurements are:
28mm Diameter.
1.5mm thick.
9.2grams.
