This return shipping box you are buying in advance for when we send YOUR unit back to you after we mod it.

How it works: you send us your unit in your own box, we send it back in about a week in this box (if we reuse yours we will refund 5.00)

Note: Please be sure you test your unit to make sure everything functions as it should before you send it. If there are any issues please contact us first and explain what they are. Replacing gear C and the belt may repair some issues, but not a guarantee, so please let us know what issues if any your unit has before sending. Diagnostic fee is 50.00 minimum but could be more if there is more than one issue.

Please clean the unit's exterior before sending it to us, cleaning is 50.00 per hour with an average of 2 hours labor for most units. We only do exterior cleaning if the customer asks, we prefer NOT to do exterior cleaning so please make note. Thank you.

Mod Technical Description: Simultaneous post fader and direct output of 1-8 tracks via RCA terminals totaling 16 tracks out. Result: Enables 8 direct out and 8 eq and fader audio outputs to individual track jacks allowing transfers to a DAW, PC interface card, digital mixer, 16 track reel or analog/digital devices.

Questions people have asked:

Q: Do you sell just the plans on how to mod a 488?

A: No our mod invention is copyrighted, it's our business we created.

Q: Do you sell gear C replacement for the MKII tape transport?

A: No those are for sale on eBay for around 20.00.

Q: I'm concerned my unit will be damaged in shipping, what carrier do you use to ship?

A: We use Fed Ex or UPS, we also provide shipping instructions. Generally be sure 3" of bubble is wrapped (and taped) tightly around the item, also tape the door shut. The box should be generally 3"- 4" larger than the item, do not use a box too large, this costs more to ship and harder to handle.

Q: Will this modification degrade or hurt the sound or function of the unit?

A: No it will not interfere or change any function or signal path of the factory audio settings.

Q: This mod looks and sounds great, but I really don't need it, since I record only analog why should I buy it?

A: To back up tape sessions with the ease of a PC or with a secondary 8 track reel to reel, saving time and money and grief.

Q: I have tried outputting my tracks individually to a PC with my current 488 and they end up out of sync. Will this fix that?

A: Yes! This mod was developed for that reason, now all 8 tracks will sync perfectly in your PC.

Q: I see there is a way to output all 8 tracks without this mod.

A: This is true, but anyone who has done this knows it's complicated and it ties up virtually every output and the signals vary from one track to another since the audio has different signal paths.
