This stunning jacket features elaborate gold and silver embroidery using a technique known as "couching". The motifs, including dragons chasing a flaming pearl and phoenixes, traditionally symbolize the husband and wife.
The jacket dates from the 1930s or 1940s.  There are also flowers with stems and leaves representing the natural world. Except for the metallic threads, the entire jacket is silk, satin on the outside, with a brilliant red silk jacquard lining.  Perhaps because this is a wedding jacket, it was lovingly preserved, and is in excellent condition.  Has a Manderin collar and traditional frog button closures.  The label says Queens Embroidery Company from Hong Kong".
It is about 18 inches from shoulder to shoulder, 19 inch long sleeves, 44 inches around the bottom (circumference) and total length from top of shoulder to bottom is about 25 inches.
