American Eagle
Button Pin/Brooch
Vintage American eagle button pin / brooch, measuring approximately 1.5 inches in diameter.
The front features a classic Great Seal–style American eagle with shield, arrows, olive branch, and banner reading “E Pluribus Unum.” This design was widely used on U.S. military and militia uniform buttons in the early 20th century.
The reverse is stamped “AIRCRAFT METAL.” This mark refers to a lightweight metal alloy commonly used during the World War II era, when traditional brass was conserved for the war effort. Buttons and components marked Aircraft Metal were produced primarily in the 1940s and are now collected as wartime Americana.
Originally a uniform button, this piece has been converted into a pin/brooch, likely mid-20th century, using a post-style pin mount. Such conversions were very common and are now collected as patriotic and historical jewelry.
