An exceptional, rare and very desirable 10 x 8 satin-finish photo of Harrison "Jack" Schmitt, Apollo 17 Lunar Module Pilot (LMP) on the lunar surface next to a huge, split boulder during the third extravehicular activity (EVA) - NASA image AS17-140-21496. The photo is on Fuji Crystal Archive paper. Schmitt held a PhD in geology before joining NASA as a member of the first group of scientist-astronauts in June 1965. Harrison has very nicely hand-signed the photo in black pen "Harrison H Schmitt / Apollo 17". Choice examples of his autograph like this are in high demand since Schmitt no longer signs through the mail or participates in paid signings.

Apollo 17 launched on December 7th 1972 and became NASA's sixth and final lunar landing mission. Schmitt and Gene Cernan, Commander landed the LM 'Challenger' in the Taurus-Littrow valley where the highlight was the unexpected discovery of orange soil on the rim of Shorty Crater. The split boulder in the photo is commonly known as "Tracy's Rock" in honour of Cernan's daughter. Schmitt remains the first and only geologist to walk on the Moon. The mission splashed down in the Pacific Ocean on December 19th 1972.
