Gettysburg 2003, 1st Edition
by Newt Gingrich & William Forstchen Signed
Civil War Related Book (2nd One We Have in Stock)

Item Description

Here is a nice first edition book about the Civil War for your buying consideration.  Would make a great gift for a special occasion, or keep it for yourself!

Very nice 1st Edition of this Civil War book.  The book is entitled, "Gettysburg".  The book is dedicated and signed by the authors to Mary Legore.

This item is from the estate of Tom & Mary Legore of Finksburg, MD.  There were local Civil War Historians and Collectors.  They also collaborated with former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich and another author with local history for one of Newt's Civil War books.

We will be posting a number of other items that we acquired from this couple over the next few weeks, so keep looking to our online store here as they will be offered for sale separately.  Some of the items are a large case of bullets and other artifacts from the Pickett's Charge area, original Currier & Ives lithographs, signed prints and books, Pie Smelling and Buying Story of a Confederate prisoner, artifacts from the Soldiers Home, Sycamore sight tree in Gettysburg, etc.

This book does not come to the market very often, especially with dedicated to someone whom worked with the authors to make things as accurate as possible in a fictional book.  It is one of only a few of the first edition versions that we could find online.

Very desirable copy of this classic Civil War book issuance.  The book has a clear plastic cover over the dust cover.  The book is signed on the title page by both authors, Newt Gingrich (former Congressman and House Speaker) and William Forstchen.  Also signed by another party on page before title page, not sure if Steve Hanser, the contributing editor to the book or someone else.  Published by St Martin Press and  Thomas Dunne Books.  There is also a silver ribbon in the box commemorating the 140th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg and the re-enactment.

The front and back covers are still securely attached to the rest of the book at the spine.  The covers are done in black with lettering in gold gilt on the spine.  Some very minor wear to the plastic cover and dust cover.

The book's pages are all intact, no major tears, missing pages or repairs.  No writing in the book that we can ascertain, other than the dedications noted earlier.  No musty, tobacco, or mildewy smell.

There is also a blue tag commemorating the 140th anniversary of Gettysburg and a bookmark that came from the book signing in 2003.

The book is 9.5" tall, by 6-3/8" across, by 1.5" wide.  The book is 463 pages in length. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures.  Don’t be shy to make an offer, we are always open to reasonable suggestions.

Make sure that this item meets your needs and requirements before deciding to acquire it.   The item can be returned, there is a 15% fee of the Item Cost, plus 115% of both Shipping Costs to do so.  So, please carefully review all the attached pictures, ask all the questions you have, come see in person or send a friend to see the item on your behalf, prior to deciding to acquire it.

The pictures provided both complement and supplement the listing description, so please look at them very closely as well.  With old items, there is no way one can capture all the little imperfections in words, so the two media are meant to be the full description.
