Ideal gift for special occasions or collectors. No breaks, no repairs, no fissure lines, only some minor details. Great native Owl design, it could not be dated, but it presents conditions that say it is a pipe that is neither very old nor modern, and it is in good condition. It comes from a trip to the Arkansas City region of a family member near 1970. Received by Inheritance. No original packaging.
This is a clay pipe with a bowl and tubular mouthpiece, which could be an archaeological artifact or a replica, similar to those described as bowl pipes with straight, diverging walls found in pre-Hispanic contexts. Clay pipes have been used since antiquity for smoking various substances. The object has an unglazed terracotta finish. It features an owl decoration on the front of the bowl. The shape suggests ceremonial or everyday use in ancient cultures.
The Osage Nation is a Native American people. They originally lived in the Ohio and Osage River valleys, among the Kansa, Ponca, Omaha, and Quapaw, and at their height in the early 17th century, they occupied parts of present-day Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas, and Oklahoma. Around 1808, they migrated to the Neosho River Valley (Kansas), and from there, in 1870, to Indian Territory (Oklahoma). They currently live in Oklahoma, on the Osage Reservation.
