OVERVIEW

Precision fuel delivery is the lifeblood of any high-performance air-cooled engine, and the QuickCar Racing Products Digital Fuel Pressure Gauge is the ultimate tool for monitoring that critical flow. For VW enthusiasts running dual Weber, Dellorto, or Kadron carburetors, maintaining a steady pressure between 2.5 and 3.5 PSI is the difference between a crisp-running machine and a flooded engine that stumbles off the line. This 0-15 PSI digital gauge provides the ultra-accurate resolution required for low-pressure carbureted systems, where a needle bounce on a traditional analog gauge can hide dangerous fluctuations. Whether you are dialing in a high-strung 2275cc drag motor or ensuring your weekend cruiser stays reliable in the heat, this gauge offers the professional-grade monitoring that Appletree Auto customers demand for their vintage Volkswagen builds.

Safety and visibility are paramount when you are behind the wheel of a Baja bug or a sand rail, and this electric digital gauge excels in both areas. By utilizing a remote electric sending unit, you eliminate the need to run a high-pressure fuel line directly into the cockpit, significantly reducing the risk of fire in the event of a line failure. The sleek black face features a high-contrast digital readout that remains legible under direct sunlight or during night-time desert runs. QuickCar has engineered this unit to withstand the heavy vibrations and harsh environments typical of off-road and racing applications. When you install this 2-1/16 inch gauge into your dash, you are not just adding a display; you are adding a piece of racing technology that ensures your air-cooled investment stays protected against lean conditions and fuel pump failures.

FITMENT

PRO TIPS

Tip 1: Remote Mount the Sending Unit

While it is tempting to screw the fuel pressure sender directly into your fuel pump or carburetor inlet, the high-frequency vibrations of an air-cooled VW engine can lead to premature sensor failure or cracked fittings. We highly recommend using a short length of braided stainless steel hose to remote-mount the sender to the firewall or a frame rail. This isolates the electronics from the engine''s harmonic vibrations and heat, ensuring a much longer lifespan for the sending unit and more consistent readings on your digital display.

Tip 2: Dialing in the Perfect Pressure for Webers

Most performance air-cooled carburetors, especially Weber IDF and DCOE series, are extremely sensitive to fuel pressure. Even 4.5 PSI can be enough to overcome the needle and seat, leading to fuel overflowing the bowls and causing a rich condition or "percolation" after the engine is shut off. Use this QuickCar digital gauge to accurately set your fuel pressure regulator to exactly 3.0 PSI. The digital readout allows you to see even 0.1 PSI changes that a mechanical gauge simply cannot show, allowing for the ultimate fine-tuning of your fuel system.

Tip 3: Ensure a Dedicated Power and Ground

Digital gauges are sensitive to "electrical noise" found in older VW charging systems, especially those still running generators or poorly grounded alternators. To prevent the digital display from flickering or giving erratic readings, run a dedicated ground wire from the gauge directly to the chassis or the battery negative terminal, rather than daisy-chaining it with other accessories. Additionally, ensure your power source is a "switched" 12V lead that remains live during cranking to monitor fuel pressure while the engine is starting up.
