Never bland, generic, cookie-cutter A.I.  Game highlights, if provided or helpful, are for those baseball fans who may be younger and know little, those older who may have forgotten or to just provide pertinent information that highlights the significance of this game, event or participant.

In their first-ever franchise World Series Game, the Florida Marlins took to the home field and showing no signs of nervousness, quickly dispatched Indian starter Orel Hershiser, and went on to win 7-4 to take the early 1997 World Series lead, 1-0 against the visiting American League Champion Cleveland Indians.

Tied 1-1 in the fourth, Moises Alou connected on a Hershiser offering and pulled it down the left field line and over the Pro Player Stadium wall for a three-run shot that broke the game open.  Charles Johnson, catcher, followed with a back to back shot down the line and out to left as well.  That home run provided enough runs for Florida to top Cleveland's four-total for the game.

When lf Jeff Conine singled in the bottom of the fifth to score a run, it countered an Indian top of the fifth Manny Ramirez home run.  It also chased Hershiser from the game.  They added another on a Charles Johnson sac fly.

BTW, with 555 lifetime home runs and a MLB Record 29 post-season home runs, Manny would be residing in the HoF but for twice being implicated for using a banned substance and serving a 50 game suspension and threatened by another.  He chose to retire instead, finishing in the top-20 all-time in career home runs and runs-batted-in.

A sixth-inning blast off the bat of future Hall of Fame 1b Jim Thome made it 7-3 and a Brian Giles double in the eighth ended the scoring.

On the strength of this win and a subsequent Gm 5 win, rookie starter Livan Hernandez was chosen 1993 WS MVP.  Hernandez also had two wins in the NLCS, four wins in the postseason.
