Church songbooks and shadow morels

Once again a wonderful example of the benefits of advanced age! The whole taster wanted bottles. The Malt comes from a distillery that still belongs to the descendants of the man who took over in 1865. Its Gaelic name can be translated as 'green grass valley'. Deep magenta with enormously long, slow legs, of course from a former Sherry Butt. The nose is rich in content, intense and complex: memories of old-fashioned pews, hymnals and even a hint of incense, but not stuffy at all. Soon, this is complemented by fruity notes and filled-shadow morels in liqueur, more precisely-with an intense Toffeenote in the background. The full-bodied taste is full bodied and slightly waxy, with burnt sugar and a bitter chocolate finish. Water brings out almonds and almond oil, a schnapps-soaked Malakoff cake and cinnamon sticks. The taste at reduced strength is gentle and slightly mouth-cooling, long-lasting and not as bitter as the undiluted flavor, with a mere hint of burned-out matches. You can taste the age of this still stimulating whisky - the word is underlined in the tasting notes.
