piece from the Keller and Guerin Important French Japonisme Collection, dated
between 1863 and 1880.
- According to
comprehensive research, it is highly probable that this vase was decorated
by Émile Gallé.
Glazed
manufacturer's mark to underside ‘KG’.
Émile Gallé
- A leading
French glass artist and a major figure in the Art Nouveau movement.
- His work was
profoundly influenced by Japonisme, with a particular interest in nature
motifs seen in Japanese art.
- He was inspired
by Japanese woodblock prints and artists like Katsushika
Hokusai.
- His work is
characterized by nature-inspired themes, such as irises, cherry blossoms,
and insects, and he developed techniques like "glass marquetry"
to achieve intricate designs.
Approximate measurements: The
approximate dimensions of the vase are 10 inches in height, 9 inches in length,
and 1.5 inches in width.
Condition: The
vase has undergone restoration, and there is a visible line indicating the
restoration at the opening of the case, as well as one handle that has also
been restored. Please carefully review all pictures.
