Japanese Vintage Bronze Metalware Decorative Dish of a Sambosa Monkey by Great Yasumi Nakajime II, a well-known metalworker and the descendant of a famous family of metalworker. This piece is about 40-50 years old dating to the mid to late Showa period. It is very well made and the metal is a beautiful color or shade of blueish green. In the 19th century, Sambaso dancers wearing high hats and carrying fans, performed a religious dance to appease the gods and thwart earthquakes. Sambosa can also be spelled in translation as Sanbosa.It comes with the signed tomobako or the box made especially for this piece. In addition, The artist has inscribed his name on the bottom.
