Beautiful Wedgwood Blue Jasperware tea set for two, dated 1956 - 1958. Japerware is a specific type of unglazed, coloured stoneware invented by Wedgwood in the 18 century that has become synonymous with the brand ever since. The set is decorated with finely modelled classical white reliefs, applied by hand to each piece. These scenes draw directly from Greco-Roman mythology and allegory - graceful figures, maidens, muses, and pastoral vignettes arranged around the pieces.

The style is rooted in the Neoclassical revival that Wedgwood helped define, and although the set dates to 1956, it follows the same artistic language and production methods that have been used for over two centuries. It has that unmistakable Jasperware look: serene matte blue with crisp, sculptural white decoration that feels almost like carved stone.

Teapot, milk jug and sugar bowl are glazed inside.
