Never bland, generic, cookie-cutter A.I. Game highlights are
for those football fans who may be
younger and know little, those older who may have forgotten or to just
provide pertinent information that highlights the significance of this game, event or participant.
With a show of remembrance for the one of the American Football League [AFL] founding-fathers and Kansas City Chiefs founder and owner on the obverse of the game ticket stub, the Chiefs hosted the San Diego Chargers at Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City, MO. in this 2007 late-season match-up.
The Chargers came into KC at 6-5, won this one 24-10 and proceeded to finish out the regular season with six straight wins, this the second, to finish 11-5. They went on to win two more, one the AFC Wild Card v Tennessee and Division playoff v Indianapolis. They were stopped, as most were, in the AFC Championship by the New England Patriots to end their streak at eight, as well as their season.
[CFHoF & PFHoF] rb LaDanian Tomlinson rushed for 177 yds on 23 carries and 2 touchdowns on runs of 31 and 28 yards. qb Philip Rivers [possible HoF] directed the Chargers offense for his 21st of 134 career wins and 38th of 421 Td passes. His Td pass of 38yds to wr Vincent Jackson [RIP] was Jackson's 9th of 57. 2007 1st Team All-Pro cb Antonio Cromartie intercepted the Chief's qb Damon Huard twice, in his 10-interception season. Shawne Merriman, olb, had three sacks.
The Chiefs, coming off an encouraging 9-7, 1st Year season with Herm Edwards as head coach, disappointed with a dismal 4-12 performance in '07.
In this game, Huard threw his lone Td pass of the day to de Jared Allen, his 1st ever, two yards, in a goal line play. His line, 13 comp-34 att-186 yds-1 Td-2 Int-7 sacks included a nice day hooking up with [HoF] Tony Gonzalez 10 times for 140 yds. rb Kolby Smith had his career 2nd most productive day, gaining 83 yds on 21 attempts.
[Note: For context, including this year's CFHoF 2024
Class, Tomlinson is one of only 1,093 players
& 233 coaches of 5.78 million players & coaches (.02%) who have
laced-up their cleats in
the past 156 years of college
football to have been enshrined.
As of 2025, LaDanian is one of only 382 other players, coaches or contributors
to be Pro Football Hall of Fame inductees. Further, by my research, he is one of only 155 of those 382 to be members of the PFHoF AND the College Football Hall of Fame; a very exclusive club.]
