Up for sale is a finely embroidered Chinese silk panel featuring two phoenix birds amid flowers and clouds, likely dating to the early 20th century.

The rectangular silk panel is mounted under glass within a gold-gilt frame. The panel is set against a rich burgundy-red ground, depicting a pair of phoenix birds facing each other in perfect symmetry. The birds are rendered in shades of green and gold, their plumage intricately detailed and entwined with stylized cloud motifs, evoking a sense of air movement and serenity. Between them blossoms a large, multi-petaled flower at the center, symbolizing beauty and renewal. A decorative blue border with geometric patterns frames the scene, enhancing its visual harmony.

In Chinese mythology, the phoenix (fenghuang) is a celestial bird embodying virtue, grace, and prosperity. It serves as an emblem of imperial authority and harmony, often paired with the dragon as the symbolic counterpart of the empress to the emperor.
