Star Trek John Collado Signed Art Print 142/250 Spock On Vulcan 14.5" x 17.5"
Back in 1992, I frequented science fiction conventions on the East Coast of the US from North Carolina up to Pennsylvania. During this time, I met an artist in the dealer's room of one of the conventions: Shore Leave in Hunt Valley, Maryland, where he was displaying his works of art. Although he had images from many shows and movies such as Babylon Five, he primarily focused on Star Trek. Some of his more well-known works included the Fab Four print showing Scotty, Sulu, Chekov and Uhura. This print would go on to be a popular item for autographs at conventions.
One of his works was an art print of Captain Spock's image above the landscape of Vulcan and Mount Seleya, where his katra would be returned to his body in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock.
The print catches the tones of Vulcan: reds, yellows and oranges, as well as brown. The image of Captain Spock was so well done that I decided to purchase this print, numbered 142 of a limited run of 250. While speaking with John Collado, I asked if he would sign the print to my mother, who was a fan of the Original series and Mr. Spock. He graciously signed it: "To Lucy, Best, John Collado"
For years, my mother kept it stored away but never had the chance to frame or hang it. The print remains in the original plastic covering that it was covered in when I bought it. As you can see, the bottom split, causing the plastic to ride up a little, but it has not damaged the print itself. The print remains in pristine condition and can be framed for display.
